Our Work in Criminal Justice
Manchester Community Safety Partnership – Care Leavers Project
We have been delivering services to care leaves in Manchester, supporting over 250 people in that time. Our Manchester care leavers project was a pilot that was initially commissioned to explore the effectiveness of our intervention on care leavers of any age who were still subject to probation. The people we supported were evaluated 12 months after our support ceased and none of the first cohort had re-offended, despite having significant offending histories prior to engagement with us. The success of this project means that we have continued to support care leavers across Manchester, and this has become one of our many areas of expertise.
Greater Manchester Combined Authority
Dignifi are proud to have worked with Greater Manchester Combined Authority on several projects that were co-commissioned by GM YOS and GM Probation; Over the past 3 years they have included,
Design and delivery of CJ specific trauma awareness, trauma recovery and trauma and disproportionality training to probation officers and Youth Justice Professionals, offering 1620 places!
Deliver a pilot of our Manchester Care Leavers Project to Youth People transitioning from Youth Justice to Probation
Design and deliver a training session to explore domestic violence. This course not only explored up to date research but it also offered practitioners a toolkit for recovery. This was delivered to 150 probation Practitioners and 250 Youth Justice practitioners. Delegates were from both Custody and Community based roles across Greater Manchester. Integrated Offender Management (IOM)
Since 2022, Dignifi have worked with IOM teams across GM, Merseyside, Cheshire, Cumbria, Lancashire, West Midlands, Hampshire and the Isle of Whyte to train staff in Trauma Awareness and Recovery and offer support to complex cases in GM. The training we delivered introduced frontline staff working in probation and police to the different types of trauma, how these experiences affect brain development and offending behaviours. We explored bias and disproportionality before thinking with teams about how best to respond to and support people who may be experiencing trauma as well as thinking about how to look after their own wellbeing doing difficult roles.
Avon and Somerset Constabulary
Avon & Somerset Constabulary commissioned us in 2022/23 to train Child Protection officers and staff working within the violence reduction unit. In total we offered places to 150 officers to explore trauma awareness, trauma recovery, racism, the adultification of black children and disproportionality at different junctures of the CJS.
